Renew a Driver's License, ID Card or Permit

You may renew starting September 1^st of the previous year that your card is expiring.

Required Steps Before Booking Your Appointment

1. Pre-Apply on the State of MN website
   *Completing the Pre-Application does NOT book your appointment. The pre-application link above will open the MN DVS site in a new window. After completing the online pre-application, you may close the DVS window to return to this screen to schedule your appointment at AAA.
2. Bring all required documents for a REALID/Enhanced Card. See tips below.

REALID & Enhanced Card Document Tips

• You must select documents from the approved lists linked above. If it is not on the lists, it will not work.
• Hard copies of documents must be presented.
• Copies of digital documents are not accepted (downloaded off a website).
• Names must match exactly, initials for first name will not work.
• Tax Returns: you must have the signature page.
• Lease Agreements: you must have the signature page.

Multiple Transactions: Only one transaction per appointment. If you need to complete more than one transaction during your appointment, choose Multiple Transactions instead.
