Passport Information

U.S. citizens are required to carry a valid U.S. Passport when leaving or entering the country,
including trips to Canada and Mexico.

Getting a Passport for The First Time

Only the U.S. Department of State has the authority to grant, issue, or verify United States passports; however, AAA offers applications and photos to help you begin the process.

Passport Applications

AAA members can visit a AAA office to obtain first-time and renewal passport applications.

Locations

AAA office locations can advise where the closest government appointed office is to accept first time applications, or you can visit Travel.State.Gov to locate your nearest passport application facility.

Renewing Your Passport

If you need to renew your passport, you may do so by mail if:

  • Your most recent passport is available to submit and is not damaged
  • You received the passport within the past 15 years
  • You were over age 16 when it was issued
  • You still have the same name, or can legally document your name change

For more information about passport renewal, visit Travel.State.Gov.

Passport Photos

Get your passport or visa photo taken at any AAA Travel Store location, and you have the option of receiving a copy of your photo via email.

No appointment is necessary for getting passport photos.

Tip: Your passport/visa photo will be taken against a white background, so it's best to wear a dark-colored top.
