Appointments & Walk-ins
For your convenience, we encourage you to schedule an appointment for License Services, however, we will continue to accept walk-in customers on a first-come, first-served basis. If the License Service Department reaches capacity on a given day for walk-in transactions, customers will be informed upon entering the building in St. Louis Park.
Services, Fees & Payment
In addition to cash, AAA Minneapolis License Bureau accepts local checks, cashier's checks/money orders, and credit cards, including American Express.
*Credit card transactions will have a service fee of 2.49%.
After-Hours Drop-off Tab Renewals
If you have your reminder notice from the state, you can renew your Minnesota tabs with AAA through our drop box or mail-in service.
We also accept tab renewals at our branch offices (processed within 48 hours).
Specialty License Plate Designs
Fees and criteria for issuance of specialty license plates. Complete the application, print it out and bring it with you to the license bureau.
Plate types include but are not limited to: Critical Habitat Conservation, College Scholorship Funds, Veteran Status, Firefighters & Law Enforcement, Collectible Cars.
