Appointments & Walk-ins
For your convenience, we encourage you to schedule an appointment for License Services, however, we will continue to accept walk-in customers on a first-come, first-served basis. If the License Service Department reaches capacity on a given day for walk-in transactions, customers will be informed upon entering the building in St. Louis Park.
If you have received a reminder notice from the state, you can renew your Minnesota license plate tabs with AAA Minneapolis through our drive-up window service.
Please Note: Only checks are accepted for this service.
Drive-Up Window at St. Louis Park Location
Drop off your reminder notice with a check for the exact amount at the 24-hour drive-up window located on the south side of our St. Louis Park location.
Tabs will be ready for pick-up by 3:30 p.m. the next business day (drop-offs received on Saturday will be ready the following Monday). Our drive-up window is open for pickup 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Mail-in Renewal
Mail us your reminder notice and a check for the exact amount, and receive your tabs in the mail. Allow 7-10 business days to receive your tabs (may take longer for an out-of-state address or during a holiday season). Our address is:

After-hours service is only available for Minnesota tab renewal transactions, and only if you’ve received your reminder notice from the state. If you don’t have your notice, and for all other licensing transactions, you will need to come in to our office with your ID and plate number.
